One Reel, Countless Adventures: Paul’s Original Red Multi-Reel Story

Every so often, we come across a story that reminds us exactly why we do what we do – and this one's a special one.
Meet Paul, a long-time Flat Out legend who first picked up his Original Red Multi-Reel™ back in 2003. That’s almost 25 years of service... hundreds of trips, thousands of winds, and one very loyal Multi-Reel that’s still going strong.
Fast forward to October 2025 when Paul stopped by our stand at the Canberra Caravan Lifestyle Expo. He let us know about his trusty old reel, still in great working order after all these years. Needless to say, we were thrilled to see one of our earliest products still doing its job so many years down the track.
These moments remind us just how far we've come – from our humble beginnings to the expanded range of caravan and RV gear that we make today (over 140 SKUs in our warehouse)!
We asked Paul if he wanted to do an upgrade as none of our current team had ever seen the original Flat Out Red. We swapped his original Red for a new model in black, adding it to his growing Flat Out collection. His old red Multi-Reel now sits proudly in our office hall of fame, a reminder of where it all began and of the incredible community that’s grown with us along the way.
Because Flat Out has always been about more than just clever gear. It’s about people like Paul — the loyal, adventurous, and practical human who’ve made this journey worth every turn.
Here’s to 25 years of saving time, space, and sanity… and to the stories that keep us winding.
