This is the lead for nearly everything: home, work, travel, hobby. 10 amp is the usual 240 V supply at home, so most of what plugs into an ordinary socket will run on it.
For travellers, it not the one you use to power your caravan. It is what you plug into the caravan to extend power out to your friends camping in a tent next door, or down to your portable induction plate for a more picturesque breakfast. It is what you run off the 4WD inverter to get power to a tool away from the vehicle, or what keeps your battery charger near your workspace on a job site. It is also the one you want if you have a box-trailer style camper with a small powerpack battery rather than an internally wired system.

More on 10 amp and a 15 amp

Zoe here, true story. Somehow I had taken this lead out of my caravan before a trip to Red Rock. I was there four days and needed to work on a couple of things. The only wifi was near the cafe, my laptop had no charge, and the closest power point was nowhere near a table. I was very annoyed not to have a 10 amp lead on hand, especially given I'm the person who makes the darn things to fix exactly that situation. Just sayin'.
The best 10 amp extension lead for caravans, home and site
The lead is flexible, UV stable and fully outdoor spec'd, so it will be useful wherever you go and survive the trip. 10 amp or 15 amp?
The plug decides it, not the appliance. Caravans and camper trailers fitted with a 15 amp inlet need a 15 amp lead, because a 15 amp plug has a wider earth pin and will not fit a 10 amp socket. Everything with an ordinary three pin plug, which is most things, runs on a 10 amp lead.
That is why a lot of people end up owning one of each. The 15 amp lives with the van; the 10 amp does the rest of life.
Always run the whole lead out. A coiled lead under load builds heat, which is why every electrician will tell you to unwind it fully before you use it. It is also why the plug sits where it does on a Multi-Reel: you physically cannot use the lead while it is still wound on. Running it out takes about ten seconds, and winding it back is the same trick in reverse.
