Thirty metres is the longest lead we make. It fits beautifully on our Original Multi-Reel, and it stays supple and easy, time and time again.
Mostly it is bought by tradespeople. It lives in the ute, stays protected from every other tool in there, and goes the distance when you most need it. If 15 m covers your usual job, the 15 m is the same lead on the smaller Compact reel.

Why our leads are like this
A customer called recently and gave us the sweetest compliment: "I haven't seen leads like this for 30 years. Thank you for making things like they used to." He meant a time when things were made to be good, and made to last, maybe before the cheap alternative filled the shelves.
This cabling has been available in Australia for years, but only to electricians, who buy it by the metre and terminate the ends themselves. We brought out our range of silicone leads when we realised there was a gap, and because we wanted leads that wound smoothly onto our Multi-Reels the first time and every time. This one, and every other lead we make, is a joy to use.
The best 30 m 10 amp extension lead for trades, home and site
If you haven't come across Flat Out before, this is a 30 metre 10 amp extension lead that lives on a flat cable reel. It is made for people who run a long lead out and wind it back again over and over: tradies pulling a cord out of the ute a dozen times a week, anyone with a shed a long way from the house, market and event crews setting up on a new patch every weekend.
Thirty metres reaches what nothing else does. Across a block, down a driveway, along a row of stalls. The trade-off is honest: it is 4.9 kg and it needs the bigger reel.
Thirty metres is also a lot of lead to wind by hand. Which is the whole reason this one is on a Multi-Reel rather than in a coil with a cable tie around it. Anchor the plug end, hold the handle and walk to the far end. Winding it back is the same walk in reverse, and it takes about twenty seconds instead of five minutes and some swearing.
It's protected between jobs. Leads rarely fail electrically. They die from handling: dragged over gravel, crushed under a toolbox, knotted in the bottom of a ute tray. Wound onto the Multi-Reel, the cord travels held in place, and the petals turn as you wind so it isn't scraped over a hard edge every time.
It stores flat. 80 mm deep, so it stands on its side in a ute box or on a shed wall instead of taking up a cube of space, and it stacks front to front with a Narrow or another Original Multi-Reel. Worth knowing if you are building a matched set: the Original does not stack with the smaller Compact reels.
It's built to live outside. Silicone rubber instead of PVC, so it stays flexible in the cold rather than turning into a coil of memory wire. Waterproof and outdoor rated. Carbon-infused against UV, which is also why the cable is black. Colour comes from the Multi-Reel, and this one comes in Classic Grey, Matte Black or Safety Orange.
10 amp or 15 amp?
The plug decides it, not the appliance. Caravans and camper trailers fitted with a 15 amp inlet need a 15 amp lead, because a 15 amp plug has a wider earth pin and will not fit a 10 amp socket. Everything with an ordinary three pin plug runs on a 10 amp lead, and 30 m of it is a lot of reach for a shed, a site or a stall.
Always run the whole lead out. A coiled lead under load builds heat, which is why every electrician will tell you to unwind it fully before you use it. It is also why the plug sits where it does on a Multi-Reel: you physically cannot use the lead while it is still wound on. That matters more at 30 m than at any other length we sell.
