When you need a long reach but your trailer is on a diet, this is our weight-watchers extension cord.
The 1.5mm² core in this 20m 15 amp lead suits general use, such as battery charging, most appliances one at a time, lighting, fridges and so on. It is significantly lighter than our XHD 20m option which makes it easier to handle, and it is also better on the budget for those it suits.
For more intense power use, please see our 20m 2.5mm² version instead, where the thicker copper limits voltage drop over the distance.

Please read this before you choose
Australian Standards changed. For caravan supply leads over 15 metres, a 2.5mm² core is now the recommended size. That recommendation is about performance rather than safety: this lead is a safe, compliant electrical product, and our own measurements put it comfortably inside the 5% voltage drop limit. What it no longer is, is the recommended specification for powering a caravan at this length.
Plenty of people will use it on a van and never notice. We'd rather you chose it knowing that, than found out later. Read the full explanation, with the voltage drop numbers before you decide, or go straight to the 2.5mm² version.

The best lightweight long extension cord for caravans and trades
If you're new to Flat Out, this is a 20 metre 15 amp lead on a flat cable reel, for people who want the reach without carrying the heaviest cable on the market to get it.
Twenty metres covers the sites that catch people out. The back of a big site, the far corner of a park, the shed at the other end of the yard.
It's the lighter of our two 20 metre leads. Less copper means less to lift, less to wind, and less to find room for.
The long one doesn't have to be the annoying one. It winds back as fast as a short lead, so the extra length costs you storage space rather than time.
It stores like the rest of your gear. 65 mm deep on its side, stacked with your other Multi-Reels rather than loose in a locker.
It survives being dragged around. Silicone rubber instead of PVC, so it stays flexible in the cold and doesn't hold its coils. Waterproof, UV stable, clear plugs for inspection.

Cable gauge matters more the longer the lead gets, because voltage drops over distance. At 20 metres a 1.5mm² core suits lighter loads: battery charging, fridges, lighting, appliances used one at a time. Why we make our own
Flat Out sold cable reels for 24 years without selling a lead, because there was no point putting our name on the same lead you could buy anywhere. What changed is that we found the people making leads for events, mining and industry, and had them build one in caravan lengths with caravan fittings.
Always run it all the way out
A coiled lead under load builds heat, and 20 metres coiled is worse than 12. The plug position on the Multi-Reel makes using it while wound impossible, which is the point.
